White Garden

When White Is the Right Choice
White flowers carry a weight that colour cannot always match. They work for sympathy, for new beginnings, for someone who simply appreciates flowers without the noise of a mixed palette. White Garden is a large, full hand-tied bouquet built entirely in white and green - no filler colour, no compromise. It is a bouquet that knows exactly what it is.
White roses anchor the arrangement. White lisianthus- with their softly ruffled, layered petals - add refinement and a texture that differs from anything a standard carnation or chrysanthemum provides. Green snapdragon spikes reach upward and give the bouquet height. White chrysanthemum heads fill the width generously. White carnations add structure and longevity. And throughout it all, generous clusters of white gypsophila provide the softness and movement that ties the whole composition together. Flat green fern and trailing eucalyptus frame the base.
Every stem is hand-tied at our Northampton studio on the day of delivery, wrapped in clean white paper and finished with a white ribbon bow.
What Is in This Bouquet
- White roses - full, cream-white heads that form the focal anchor of the arrangement
- White lisianthus - multi-headed stems with softly ruffled, layered petals in pale white-green; one of the most elegant flowers in any all-white arrangement
- White chrysanthemums - large, flat-headed blooms with green button centres that add volume and a clean, fresh note throughout
- Green snapdragons - upright spike stems in white-green that add height, structure, and a natural garden quality to the arrangement
- White carnations - full, frilly-edged blooms that add structure, last well, and provide a gentle textural contrast to the softer stems
- White gypsophila - generous, billowing clusters that soften the whole arrangement and fill the spaces between every other bloom
- Flat green fern - dark, structured foliage that frames the bouquet at the base
- Eucalyptus - soft trailing stems that add fragrance and a natural, slightly loose quality
- White paper wrap and white ribbon bow - clean, understated presentation that suits the palette

Flower Care
- Trim 2 cm from each stem at a diagonal angle as soon as the bouquet arrives and place immediately in a clean vase with cool water
- Change the water every two days and re-trim the stems each time
- Keep away from direct sunlight, radiators, and draughts
- Remove any leaves sitting below the waterline to keep the water clean
- Lisianthus and snapdragons will continue to open upward from the base of the stem over several days - the bouquet changes and develops throughout the week
- Carnations and chrysanthemums typically outlast roses by 3 to 5 days - they will often hold well for 10 to 14 days with regular water changes
- Gypsophila can be air-dried in place once the fresher stems begin to fade - it holds its shape and makes a lasting addition to a dried arrangement

Keep Your Flowers Fresh Longer
Your beautiful Northampton flower delivery deserves expert care. Follow our local florist's proven tips to enjoy vibrant blooms for up to two weeks.
Immediate Care (First Hour)
Unpack promptly – Remove your flowers from packaging within 1 hour of delivery to prevent overheating.
Trim stems at an angle – Cut 2-3cm off each stem at a 45° angle using sharp scissors or secateurs. This increases water absorption.
Remove lower leaves – Strip any foliage that would sit below the waterline to prevent bacterial growth.
Use clean water – Fill your vase with fresh, cool tap water. Add the flower food sachet provided with your bouquet.
Daily Maintenance
Change water every 2 days – Fresh water prevents bacteria that shorten flower life. Rinse the vase thoroughly.
Re-cut stems – Trim another 1cm off stems each time you change the water.
Remove wilted blooms – Take out any dying flowers to keep the arrangement looking fresh and prevent bacteria spread.
Top up water daily – Flowers drink a lot, especially in the first few days.
Ideal Placement
Cool location – Keep flowers away from direct sunlight, radiators, and heating vents. Cooler temperatures (16-18°C) extend vase life.
Avoid fruit bowls – Ripening fruit releases ethylene gas which causes flowers to age faster.
Skip draughty spots – Avoid windowsills and doorways where temperature fluctuates.
Special Flower Types
Roses – Remove guard petals (outer petals) if damaged. Roses can last 7-12 days with proper care.
Lilies – Remove orange pollen stamens to prevent staining and extend bloom life. Lilies can last up to 2 weeks.
Tulips – These continue growing in the vase. Use less water (5-7cm) and keep very cool.
Sunflowers – Change water frequently as stems can become slimy. These bold blooms last 7-10 days.
Chrysanthemums – Hardy flowers that can last 2-3 weeks. Break stems rather than cutting for best results.
Troubleshooting
Drooping heads? Re-cut stems and place in deep, cool water for 2 hours to revive.
Cloudy water? Sign of bacteria. Change immediately and clean vase with diluted bleach.
Petals browning? Remove affected flowers and ensure vase isn't in direct heat or sunlight.
Expert Tip from Your Local Northampton Florist
Add a drop of bleach or vodka to your vase water (1 teaspoon per litre) as a natural antibacterial. This simple trick can add 3-4 extra days to your flower's vase life. At Blossom Surprise, we've been caring for Northampton's flowers since day one – these techniques really work!
