A Tribute Made with Care

The Classic Open Wreath is one of the most recognised and meaningful floral tributes at a funeral service. At 25 inches in diameter, this is a full-sized wreath - not a modest circlet, but a properly generous ring tribute that makes a considered statement of respect and remembrance.

White oriental lilies are positioned throughout as the focal flower, their large, open heads drawing the eye around the ring. Red roses in both full-headed and spray form are set between the lily clusters, adding warmth and depth to the predominantly white palette. White chrysanthemum heads provide volume and structure, covering the frame fully so no gaps or mechanics are visible. Soft purple statice adds a gentle colour note that lifts the arrangement without competing with the main blooms. Silver-green eucalyptus weaves throughout, adding fragrance and foliage that softens and frames everything.

Every wreath is hand-crafted at our Northampton studio by our florists, made to order for the date you need it, and delivered directly by our team.

Ordering a Funeral Tribute

We understand that ordering funeral flowers is something most people do rarely and under difficult circumstances. Here is what you need to know.

We ask for at least 48 hours notice wherever possible to ensure we can source the freshest stems for the tribute. If you need something sooner, please contact us directly -- we will do everything we can to help.

When placing your order, please provide:

  • The date the tribute is needed
  • The delivery address - funeral director, chapel of rest, crematorium, or private home address
  • The name of the deceased for any card or sash
  • Any specific colour preferences or flower requirements if you wish to personalise the tribute

We deliver to funeral directors and crematoriums across all Northampton NN postcodes (NN1 to NN29) and all Milton Keynes MK postcodes. If you are outside these areas, please contact us before ordering to confirm we can deliver to your location.

To see our full range of funeral and sympathy flowers, visit our funeral flowers collection or browse our sympathy flower range for additional tribute and condolence options.

Sash and Personalisation

A floral sash can be added to the wreath to display a personal message or relationship - for example, "Beloved Father", "Forever in Our Hearts", or "With Love Always". Please specify your sash wording at checkout or in the order notes. If you are unsure what to write, our team can advise.

If you would prefer a different colour palette - for example, an all-white tribute, or one incorporating a different accent colour - please contact us before ordering to discuss what is possible. We make every tribute to order and can adjust the arrangement to reflect the individual being remembered.

Other Funeral Tribute Styles

If you are looking for a different tribute form to accompany or replace a wreath, we also make funeral cushions, hearts, sprays, and casket tributes from our Northampton studio. Browse our full funeral flower collection for the complete range, or contact us directly if you need guidance on which tribute is most appropriate.

Keep Your Flowers Fresh Longer

Your beautiful Northampton flower delivery deserves expert care. Follow our local florist's proven tips to enjoy vibrant blooms for up to two weeks.

Immediate Care (First Hour)

Unpack promptly – Remove your flowers from packaging within 1 hour of delivery to prevent overheating.

Trim stems at an angle – Cut 2-3cm off each stem at a 45° angle using sharp scissors or secateurs. This increases water absorption.

Remove lower leaves – Strip any foliage that would sit below the waterline to prevent bacterial growth.

Use clean water – Fill your vase with fresh, cool tap water. Add the flower food sachet provided with your bouquet.

Daily Maintenance

Change water every 2 days – Fresh water prevents bacteria that shorten flower life. Rinse the vase thoroughly.

Re-cut stems – Trim another 1cm off stems each time you change the water.

Remove wilted blooms – Take out any dying flowers to keep the arrangement looking fresh and prevent bacteria spread.

Top up water daily – Flowers drink a lot, especially in the first few days.

Ideal Placement

Cool location – Keep flowers away from direct sunlight, radiators, and heating vents. Cooler temperatures (16-18°C) extend vase life.

Avoid fruit bowls – Ripening fruit releases ethylene gas which causes flowers to age faster.

Skip draughty spots – Avoid windowsills and doorways where temperature fluctuates.

Special Flower Types

Roses – Remove guard petals (outer petals) if damaged. Roses can last 7-12 days with proper care.

Lilies – Remove orange pollen stamens to prevent staining and extend bloom life. Lilies can last up to 2 weeks.

Tulips – These continue growing in the vase. Use less water (5-7cm) and keep very cool.

Sunflowers – Change water frequently as stems can become slimy. These bold blooms last 7-10 days.

Chrysanthemums – Hardy flowers that can last 2-3 weeks. Break stems rather than cutting for best results.

Troubleshooting

Drooping heads? Re-cut stems and place in deep, cool water for 2 hours to revive.

Cloudy water? Sign of bacteria. Change immediately and clean vase with diluted bleach.

Petals browning? Remove affected flowers and ensure vase isn't in direct heat or sunlight.

Expert Tip from Your Local Northampton Florist

Add a drop of bleach or vodka to your vase water (1 teaspoon per litre) as a natural antibacterial. This simple trick can add 3-4 extra days to your flower's vase life. At Blossom Surprise, we've been caring for Northampton's flowers since day one – these techniques really work!
