When Are Peonies Available in the UK?
Fresh peonies have a natural growing season in the UK. Understanding this helps you plan ahead for the most special occasions:
- Late April - the first UK-grown peonies begin to appear, typically in coral and blush pink varieties. Supply is limited at this stage.
- May - peak early season. White, pink and deep magenta varieties are widely available. This is the most popular time to order peony bouquets.
- June - the height of peony season in the UK. Full heads, strong stems and the richest fragrance. Perfect for summer weddings and anniversary gifts.
- July onwards - UK peonies begin to finish. We may source from European growers to extend availability through July, but supply becomes less predictable.
Outside of the April–June window, peony availability depends on import supply. Please contact us before ordering to confirm fresh peonies are in stock on your required date.
How to Care for Your Peony Bouquet
Peonies last 5–7 days in a vase when cared for correctly:
- Trim 2-3 cm from the stems at a diagonal angle before placing in water.
- Use a clean vase with fresh, cool water and add the flower food sachet provided.
- Keep away from direct sunlight and radiators - a cool room extends vase life significantly.
- Change the water every two days and re-trim the stems each time.
- If buds arrive closed, place in a warm room to encourage them to open.
